I personally use Symantec's Norton Anti-Virus on all of my computers.
I am sure that MacAfee and the other major vendors work equally as well,
but I have not had as much experience with them as I have with Symantec.
Be sure that whatever you use, you configure it to automatically download
the virus definitions at least once per week, and that it is set to Auto
Protect your system at all times.
What is the single
biggest issue that you see with your clients?
This is an easy one. The single biggest issue is lack of
anti-virus software, or even worse is having the software but it is not up
todate with the virus definitions. I have seen computers with
defintions from 3 years ago loaded. New viruses come out every day.
Load your definitions at least once per week. (Hint... We can
talk you through how to set this up over the phone.)
I have Windows
98 or 95, should I upgrade to Windows XP or Windows2000?
Our recommendation on this is that if your system is capable of running
Windows XP (or 2000) that you should go ahead and upgrade to XP or 2000.
We are running Windows XP on all of our computers (5 of them) and have not
had ANY operating system problems in several years. If
you are experiencing lockups or system crashes with Windows 98 or 95,
there is a good chance that you would no longer have those problems after
upgrading to XP. Don't believe all the negative hype about
Microsoft. With XP they got it right. Call us to talk about
upgrading your operating system today.
